Which alienware x51 should i buy
Just take a look at the difference that having even a small, yet fully fledged desktop can make. Choose a benchmark: Handbrake iTunes Photoshop Multimedia. It's not exactly fair matching, pitting a Core i7 against Core i5 machines, along with a desktop graphics card versus mobile; but it does illustrate that you can still get a lot of power into a small box. It also shows that the performance game is one of diminishing returns; unless you have a highly threaded application like Handbrake churning over, there's not that much of a gap between a high-end machine and a medium tier.
It's significant, especially for power users and professionals, but for the average user they likely won't notice. But we're here for gaming, right? Let's see what a mid-end desktop graphics card will do against mid-end mobile graphics cards.
Choose a benchmark: Metro Batman: Arkham Asylum. Game results are more dramatic, courtesy of the much beefier GTX in the X Both are reasonably well performing cards; but if you're a gamer it still makes a lot more sense to go for the full desktop over a mobile solution. Once again it's not the fairest comparison, but then, gaming desktops cross our path quite rarely. The X51 is a beast in a tiny box. There are some concessions to be made from an upgrade perspective, but if you're after something tiny that manages to be a decent gaming machine, this could pique your interest.

Don't waste your money on the Alienware! Above is a PC that will run games probably very close to twice as fast, for a lower price.
That's all good and stuff but I want cool lights lol. But seriously I have no idea how to build PC I mean if I just buy the cheaper Alienware then at least I know everything works, and if something goes wrong I can just contact them, Instead of having all different types of stuff slapped everywhere lol, and I heard because the GTX is GDDR5 or something and not 3, it will work just as good as a I dunno.
No a gtx is nothing close to a gtx If lights are more important than gaming, get an alienware. Building a computer is stupid easy, and you will get MUCH better parts and have the ability to upgrade. Looks much better than anything Alienware too, since you can have a windowed side panel. I kind of don't understand your argument either. At first you were saying all that mattered to you was good gaming performance, now it's all about the computer's "looks".
How much time do you spend staring at your computer case while playing a game? Your willing to have half the gaming performance because it "looks better"? There are many great looking cases out there, and amazing looking builds too, miles better than any Alienware rig. Check out mine for example:. You must log in or register to reply here. I too am a user. Depends on your budget. Newer PCI-E cards are fine at medium and high settings depending on what you use them for and the TI is a 75W directx 12 card that can do 4k etc.
So Im not feeling "Several Generations" old. They are all still available and sold. I would not get a or TI however because that wont fit into the X51 case or many other Dells and requires large power supply. Area 51 R1 Upgrade Cass-Ole. Yeah but dropping so much money into a ti or , these are discontinued items and several generations old. If you're going to upgrade I'd focus putting money on current gen or at least the more recent last gen stuff, not 4 year old tech not that it's not good, it's just that way better stuff has come out now.
The money spent on an upgrade that is 2 generations outdated could be better spent, IMHO. Which unfortunately isn't a realistic option on the x51 due to the small form factor and design. Unless you can get a great deal on preowned stuff, I suppose. The other related aspect, is that it's not even clear to me that the issues the OP is experiencing will be resolved by upgrading the GPU.
